Evander Holyfield has called out Tyson for a trilogy fight in an Instagram post with the caption, “The fans want it.”
This is after Mike Tyson returned to the boxing ring in a loss against YouTuber, Jake Paul.
Tyson, responded with a heartfelt yet ambiguous reply, saying, “I love you, brother, but the trilogy is our friendship.” This reply has been speculated to mean Tyson is not interested in a rematch.
Holyfield boasts two victories over Tyson, beginning with a stunning win in 1996 to regain the WBA heavyweight title, a result considered one of boxing’s most shocking upsets. Their 1997 rematch, however, took a controversial turn when Tyson was disqualified for biting a portion of Holyfield’s ear.
Tyson was reported to have made $20 million from his fight against Paul, which made history as the first combat sports event to be streamed on Netflix.
