The Dallas Wings have signed forward, Amy Okonkwo to a seven-day hardship contract as the team battles through a string of injuries that has thinned its roster.
The 28-year-old Nigerian international joins the Wings just weeks after helping D’Tigress win the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket title in Rwanda, where she was named tournament MVP for the second consecutive edition.
Okonkwo, a former TCU standout and Big 12 Sixth Player of the Year, brings a wealth of international experience to Dallas. She has represented Nigeria at two Olympic Games and most recently played in France with Bourges, averaging 14.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and nearly 48 percent shooting from three-point range during the 2024–25 season. Earlier this year, she also had a stint with the Connecticut Sun in training camp, appearing in two preseason games.
Her signing comes at a crucial time for Dallas, who have been forced to dip into hardship contracts after losing key players such as Li Yueru, Arike Ogunbowale, and rookie JJ Quinerly to injury.
Okonkwo’s shooting, rebounding, and versatility in the frontcourt are expected to provide immediate support as the Wings try to stay competitive through a difficult stretch of the season.
