FIFA President Gianni Infantino has held talks with a Nigerian delegation led by National Sports Commission Chairman Shehu Dikko at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.
Infantino disclosed the meeting in a social media post, saying the discussions focused on Nigeria’s football development, governance and institutional structures.
He said both sides also explored ways FIFA could further support the growth of football in Nigeria, particularly by creating stronger pathways and more opportunities for young players.
“I was pleased to sit down with a delegation from Nigeria, led by National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman Shehu Dikko, at the Home of FIFA in Zürich to hold important discussions and align on our vision for football in the country,” Infantino wrote.
According to the FIFA president, the meeting covered “institutional, governance and developmental topics” as well as ongoing collaborations between FIFA and Nigeria.
Infantino also said they discussed areas where FIFA could provide additional support to strengthen the structures around Nigerian football and expand opportunities for the country’s youth.
The FIFA president further wished Nigeria’s women’s national teams success ahead of the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
He also thanked the Nigerian delegation for its “time, ideas and positive intent” and expressed optimism about working together to take Nigerian football forward.
