Manchester United have stepped up talks to sign Porto left-back Alex Telles, according to reports in Portugal.
United are in the market for a new left-sided defender to provide competition for Luke Shaw, who missed the end of last season due to an ankle injury.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have already been offered the chance to sign Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon after he impressed on loan at Sevilla last term.
But according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, United have intensified their interest in Alex Telles and are complete to complete a deal for the Brazilian defender.
The report claims that the 27-year-old’s representatives have travelled to Manchester for further discussions with United’s hierarchy.
Alex Telles would also be available for a cut-price fee as his contract with Porto is due to expire next summer.
Earlier this year, A Bola reported that Porto had demanded €40 million (£35.9m) for Alex Telles during their negotiations with Chelsea.
But Chelsea opted to sign Ben Chilwell in a £50m deal from Leicester City instead.
Last season, the Brazilian scored 11 goals and registered eight assists in 31 league appearances.
