Porto star Alex Telles has fuelled rumours he could be on his way to Old Trafford by ‘liking’ Patrice Evra’s post about Manchester United and the club’s iconic former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, on Instagram.
Telles, 27, has emerged as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top target at left-back and has agreed personal terms with United but the Red Devils have so far failed to strike a deal with Porto over the Brazilian’s price, with just over a week remaining of the summer transfer window.
The defender is determined to push through a move before the deadline and is pleading with Porto for them to lower their €20million (£18.3m) asking price, given the Red Devils value him at closer to £12m.
The Brazil international has been open with Porto about his ambitions to move to United and eagle-eyed fans are convinced he’s desperate to join going by his social media activity on Thursday.
He was caught ‘liking’ Evra’s post on Instagram about his days under Fergie as United’s left-back – the position Telles is hoping to make his own at the Theatre of Dreams.
Here’s how supporters reacted to Telles’ cheeky hint…

Despite his place seemingly coming under threat with the possible addition of a new left-back, Luke Shaw urged the club to bring in more signings following their defeat to Crystal Palace.
Shaw told TV2: ‘We have a very good group, but personally I think we need more players to strengthen the squad.
‘It can give us a boost. When you look around at how other teams are strengthening their teams, then we must also do it to keep up with the others.’
Jadon Sancho remains Solskjaer’s priority attacking target but the Red Devils have been forced to scour the market for possible alternatives, with Borussia Dortmund standing firm over the young Englishman’s £108m asking price.
Talks have taken place over a possible loan deal for Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele but the France international has no interest in a move to United.
And the club’s top target at centre-half, Dayot Upamecano, appeared to commit his short-term future to Leipzig in an interview on French television earlier this week.
