Manchester United hope to complete a move for Atalanta winger Amad Diallo in the next 24 hours with the midfielder currently undergoing a medical in Bergamo, Italy.
The 18-year-old agreed personal terms with the Red Devils on deadline day after United hijacked Parma’s deal for the Ivorian.
United have agreed to pay a fee that could reach £37.7m for the winger, roughly £21m of which is paid upfront.
Diallo cannot join the club until January 1st but United are wasting little time in getting a deal over the line by making the Ivorian undergo his medical in Italy today.
Should the medical go as planned, Diallo can sign his contract with the club and plan his move to Old Trafford.
United failed to land first choice target Jadon Sancho this summer and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sanctioned moves for Diallo and Facundo Pellistri after the club failed to sign the Dortmund winger.
Pellistri is expected to go straight into United’s first team set-up, despite his lack of experience in Uruguay.
Diallo is rated as the better prospect but United fans will have to be patient to see him in action as he cannot join until January 1st.
Atalanta insisted on a 15% sell-on clause in Diallo’s contract but United will be hoping that the Ivorian has a long and successful period at the club before that could come into effect.
