Suarez looks set to leave Barcelona after not featuring in new manager Ronald Koeman’s plans.
Suarez, 33, is reported to have reached an agreement with Juventus over a £9m-a-year deal but wants his full £13m-a-year Barcelona contract to be guaranteed for the 2020/21 season.
While he has already completed a language exam in Turin ahead of a move, Barcelona are refusing to give in to Suarez’s contract demands.
And Pirlo confessed that any potential deal may now be dead in the water.
‘Passport times are long, it’d be difficult for him to be a Juventus striker,’ said Pirlo.
Asked when Juventus would be signing a new frontman, Pirlo responded: ‘We are all waiting for the striker, but we are in no hurry.’
It’s thought that former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko could be on his way to the Allianz Stadium instead.
Dzeko is thought to be close to sealing a £15m transfer from Serie A rivals Roma.
Where Suarez will end up remains to be seen.
Inter Milan have been the latest club to be linked to the Uruguay international, who is believed to be open to joining Antonio Conte’s side.
