Angel di Maria was substituted midway through the second half of Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-1 defeat to Nantes on Sunday night and fled the Parc des Princes to deal with an incident at his family home.
After being pulled off shortly after the hour mark, the Argentina international left the stadium to attend the incident.
Reports in France claim the home of Marquinhos’s parents was also targeted during the match.
There have been conflicting reports about the severity of the incident at the Di Maria family home, but it’s claimed that his wife Jorgelina and their children were present at the family home.
Di Maria has been targeted by criminals before.
During his brief spell at Manchester United, his Cheshire home was the scene of an attempted burglarly in January 2015. The incident was said to have played a role in his exit from Old Trafford.
Pochettino said after the match, in which Randal Kolo and Moses Simon scored for the victorious visitors, with Julian Draxler scoring for the beaten hosts: ‘We started the match well, we made the difference.
‘After the equaliser, the match became more open, we suffered, we struggled. We were not strong enough.
‘It was a difficult match. We missed the opportunity to go top of the table, we lost points. It makes things more difficult but there are still a lot of matches left.
‘It is always frustrating to drop points. For a Champions League match, there was a lot of physical and mental energy demanded. And now we can see that we struggled.
‘There are situations outside of football that also explain the second half. It is not an excuse but it brought about a reduction in energy. At half-time, we spoke about things other than football.’
The result leaves PSG three points behind league leaders Lille.
