British-Nigerian boxing icon, Anthony Joshua paid a courtesy visit to Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama at Jubilee House on Monday, June 16, 2025.
The meeting was part of Joshua’s trip to support the “Battle of the Beasts” boxing event, held at Accra’s Bukom Arena between June 13 and 15, organized by Legacy Rise Sports and Sharaf Mahama.

Speaking during the visit, the two-time heavyweight champion expressed his admiration for Ghana while revealing his surprise due to the impressions formed back home in Nigeria.
“Coming to Ghana wasn’t actually on my agenda. Because for some reason everyone in Nigeria puts Nigeria above Ghana. But now I’m here and I’m looking around like ‘they’ve been lying to me”, he said drawing laughter and applause from those in the room.

Joshua has engaged in a variety of activities since landing in Ghana from public appearances to private courtesy calls, which all form part of the boxing events organized by Sharaf Mahama, the son of the Ghanaian president.
