Arsenal could welcome back both Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Cedric Soares to first team action on Thursday night against Liverpool with both back in full training.
Neither defender has made an appearance yet this season, with both the Greek and the Frenchman out with calf injuries.
However, the club has confirmed that both are back in full training now and could be options for Mikel Arteta on his second trip to Anfield this week, this time in the Carabao Cup after the 3-1 Premier League loss on Monday night.
The Gunners have been struggling with numerous injuries in defence and continue to do so, with Calum Chambers Shkodran Mustafi and Pablo Mari all still out.
Chambers and Mustafi are nearing returns, with the club expecting them to be back in full training after the international break in October.
The Englishman has been out since December when he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament, while Mustafi has been missing since the FA Cup semi-final win over Man City in July with a hamstring problem.
Gabriel Martinelli is still a long way from fitness and it remains unlikely he will play for Arsenal this year due to a knee injury.
Otherwise, Arteta has a clean bill of health in his squad for the fourth round of the EFL Cup and will be hoping that is still the case when Arsenal host Sheffield United in the Premier League on Sunday.
