The 27-year-old has rediscovered his best form since his agent Mino Raiola threatened to upend his campaign by revealing he wanted to leave the club.
However, far from having a negative effect on Pogba, Raiola’s comments seem to have shaken the midfielder’s season into life and he’s produced some of his best displays in years during the last six weeks.
Pogba was on fine form as United moved level on points with Liverpool with a 2-1 win against Aston Villa on New Year’s Day.
The Frenchman played a part in United’s opener and he won a penalty in the second half which allowed Bruno Fernandes to score the winner.
Speaking on Match of the Day, Wright praised Pogba for his recent performances and said he would ‘love someone’ like the France international at Arsenal.
Yes [Pogba is back to his best] he is and you know, with all the stuff that’s happened with him he’s getting it right on the pitch,’ said Wright.
‘He’s put it all to the side and to be honest he’s putting in good performances.
‘He was unlucky there [not to score against Villa] but I thought with his ability he should have scored.
‘Great touch, great play, great awareness, great skill. He’s getting everyone playing and that’s what he does. He was everywhere. He was in his own box, he was up there in their box, he was doing everything today.
‘That’s what he can do with his creativity. you give him this much time when you have willing runners like Marcus Rashford….that is just fantastic. A super, super pass. I’d love to have someone like that.’
CIty’s Premier League tie against Everton before the New Year was postponed after an outbreak of Covid-19 cases in the squad but their game against Chelsea today is expected to go ahead.
Pep Guardiola has refused to confirm the names of those that have recently tested positive, though Kyle Walker and Gabriel Jesus recorded positive results before Christmas.
