Arsenal are eyeing a move for Fabio Vieira and are ready to begin talks over a possible deal for the Porto midfielder, according to reports in Portugal.
Vieira , 20, made his first-team debut for Porto at the end of last season is regarded as one of the finest young talents in the Primeira Liga.
The Portugal Under-21 international has picked up where he left off at the start of this campaign and his outstanding performances have caught the attention of some of Europe’s top teams, including Arsenal and Marseille.
Record claims both clubs are ‘positioning themselves’ for Vieira’s signature and are poised to open discussions with Porto and the youngster’s camp ahead of the January transfer window.
The report suggests Vieira is unlikely to leave this winter and could even put pen to paper on a new contract at Porto – but the Premeira Liga outfit believe interest will only grow for their academy product over the coming months.
Both Arsenal and Marseille will be aware that Vieira has a €30million (£27m) release clause in his current contract.
The north London club have also revived their interest in Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku, who was heavily linked during Unai Emery’s spell in charge.
