Arsenal are willing to offer Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson as part of their bid to sign Norwich City midfielder Emiliano Buendia, according to reports.
The 24-year-old has emerged as one of Mikel Arteta’s top targets as the Arsenal manager seeks to improve his creativity in midfield with a new signing in the January transfer window.
Buendia impressed in the Premier League last season and has continued his strong form following Norwich’s relegation to the Championship with seven goals and seven assists in 19 appearances so far this term.
According to The Independent, Arsenal have held initial discussions with Buendia’s agent about the possibility of a deal this month.
And the report claims that Arsenal are willing to offer either Willock or Nelson to Norwich in order to lower their £40 million asking price.
Arsenal are also looking to trim their squad in the January window, therefore a player-plus-cash deal for the Argentine midfielder would suit the Gunners.
Willock has started just two games in the Premier League this season, while Nelson has made just two appearances as a substitute.
Both players have regularly featured in the Europa League but their chances to secure a regular role over the Christmas period have been limited.
‘Emi is a key player for us, an important member of the group, and he is totally committed to us,’ said Farke.
‘He is our player and will continue to be our player. He is on a long-term contract so we keep him.
‘Everyone knows his qualities – I don’t expect interest just because he scored a wondergoal today. People know what he can do.’
