In a commanding performance at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium on Sunday, FC Barcelona secured a 4-1 victory over Sevilla, narrowing the gap at the top of La Liga to just two points.
The match began with high intensity, as Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring in the 7th minute, converting a header from Iñigo Martínez. Sevilla responded immediately, with Rubén Vargas equalizing in the 8th minute by finishing Saúl Ñíguez’s cross at the back post.
At halftime, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick introduced Fermin López, who made an instant impact by scoring with his first touch, heading into the bottom corner to restore Barcelona’s lead. Shortly after, Raphinha extended the advantage with a brilliant solo effort, dribbling past a defender and firing into the bottom corner.
The game took a turn when López was shown a red card for a dangerous tackle on Djibril Sow, following a VAR review. Despite being reduced to ten men, Barcelona maintained control, and substitute Eric García sealed the victory with a header in the 89th minute.
This win brings Barcelona within two points of league leaders Real Madrid, intensifying the title race as the season progresses.
