The striker is not part of Ronald Koeman’s first-team plans at Camp Nou and Barca’s hierarchy are keen to offload one of their highest earners, with Memphis Depay already identified as his replacement.
Juventus have been in talks for Suarez, while Atletico Madrid are also interested, though any progress on a deal has stalled over his demands.
According to Sport, Suarez is adamant that he should be paid the final year of his contract with Barcelona which is worth around £15million.
Barca had been unwilling to do so, instead insisting that Juventus should pay that fee to Suarez – which would effectively be the transfer fee, with the Catalan side receiving nothing.
But Juve have so far been reluctant to pay such a large payment for a 33-year-old coming off the back of an injury-plagued season.
In addition to the big fee Suarez believes he is due, he also expects to land a lucrative three-year contract with Juve – though it will be significantly less than what he currently earns at Camp Nou.
While the move to Turin seemed a near certainty at one point, the transfer has stalled significantly and Atletico are also sniffing around the forward.
Diego Simeone is believed to be a big fan of his fellow South American, while for his part Suarez would prefer to stay in Spain rather than move to Italy – though he is attracted to the prospect of playing for the Serie A champions.
