French winger Coman is also reported to be on the Blues’ transfer wish-list, with recent speculation suggesting Chelsea were looking into the possibility of swapping him for the out-of-favour Christian Pulisic.
But, according to German publication Bild, Bundesliga champions Bayern have no intention of letting either player leave the club this summer.
The German giants are set to lose both David Alaba and Jerome Boateng on free transfers when their contracts expire this summer and have already planned for life after the experienced defensive duo.
Bayern intend to use a core of four centre-backs next season: Lucas Hernandez, Tanguy Nianzou, incoming signing from RB Leipzig Dayot Upamecano and, unfortunately for Chelsea, Sule.
That is likely to see Chelsea pursue one of the other two centre-backs they had earmarked, Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez and Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate.
Pulisic is said to be disappointed in his lack of game time under Tuchel but will not agitate for a move and is only focusing on helping Chelsea finish the season well – though his future will need to be addressed in the summer, particularly with Bayern and a number of other top clubs keeping tabs on his situation.
Asked about Pulisic’s situation and future at the club, Tuchel said: ‘We have so many games and he is in my plans. He is an important player and has the potential to be decisive for us off the bench.
‘His job is to be ready like everybody else and when the moment comes, he has to be ready. This is what you sign up for at a club like Chelsea. There is no difference between Christian or anybody else.
‘When you sign and play for Chelsea, it is part of the job description of a player to be impatient and patient at the same time. Impatient because all of my players are competitors and want to play every single minute, and this is what they all show every day, the hunger and the desire. This is what Christian shows.’
