French striker, Wissam Ben Yedder has received a suspended two-year jail sentence for sexual assault.
According to RMC Sport, Ben Yedder, 34, was convicted by the Nice Criminal Court for committing the offence while intoxicated. In addition to the sentence, he has also been fined €5,000, a compensation to the victim totaling €6,500 and he has been banned from driving for 6 months. It is reported that the Frenchman was absent during the sentencing.
Ben Yedder, who last played for Monaco last season and is currently a free agent, has had frequent run ins with the law. He has been previously convicted of tax fraud during his spell in Sevilla between 2016 and 2019.
Ben Yedder is also set to appear in court later this year to face charges of psychological violence against his estranged wife amid a contentious divorce battle.
