Barcelona midfielder Gavi has finally returned to training after a nine-month layoff with a torn ACL. The 20-year-old’s injury, suffered during Spain’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Georgia last November, was a bitter blow, but he’s now taking the first steps towards a long-awaited comeback.
The 20-year-old has not played since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee while playing for Spain against Georgia in a qualifying match for the European Championship at the end of last year.
Barcelona shared a video of Gavi’s reunion with his teammates on social media, and it’s clear the youngster is raring to go.
Meanwhile, Frenkie de Jong is still struggling with an ongoing ankle issue. Fermín Lopez picked up an injury during the international break, and Marc Bernal’s season was ended by an ACL injury in the third game of the campaign. Andreas Christensen, who played in midfield last season, is also out injured.
On a positive note, Ansu Fati is nearing a return to competitive action after completing training without issues this week. The Blaugrana are flying high under new boss Hansi Flick, with four straight wins to kick off the season and a four-point cushion at the top of LaLiga.
Gavi’s eventual return will only add to the excitement, but for now, it’s just great to see him back.
