England’s Nations League hopes have suffered a blow as Bukayo Saka has left the national team’s training camp to undergo further assessment on an injury picked up against Greece.
Saka limped off during Thursday’s defeat at Wembley and will miss Sunday’s clash with Finland.
Interim England boss Lee Carsley provided an update on the winger’s condition.
“He’s been assessed, but in the build-up to the first goal, you could see he’d felt something in his leg,” Carsley said.
The Arsenal star returned to his club on Saturday morning, where the medical team will continue to evaluate his injury ahead of their Premier League match against Bournemouth.
Saka has started the season in blistering form, contributing 2 goals and 7 assists in 7 Premier League games. Any injury to the 23-year-old will be a huge blow to Gunners’ boss Mikel Arteta, who is already without club captain Martin Odegaard.
