Edo Queens rounded off their participation in this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League with a loss to Masar FC in the third place match in Friday.
The Nigerian champions lost 4-3 on penalties to the Egyptian side on Friday after a 0-0 scoreline in regular time.
The two teams met in the group stage of the competition and played out a goalless draw.
Kafayat Mafisere took the opening kick and missed which gave the Egyptian club the advantage.
Maya Abouelwafa missed her spot kick but but the Nigerian champions couldn’t take advantage as Chioma Olise missed her spot kick which would made the score 4-3 in favour of Edo Queens.
However, Ali Mahira converted the last spot kick as Masar FC finished ahead of Edo Queens in third place.
Edo Queens will take consolation in earning $300,000 for finishing 4th as the competition comes to an end tomorrow.
