After a slow start to his Blues career following a £57million move from Borussia Dortmund, Pulisic has quickly developed into one of Frank Lampard’s most important players.
The 21-year-old scored 14 goals and made five assists last season, helping Chelsea secure Champions League qualification by finishing fourth in the Premier League and reach the FA Cup final.
While USA boss Berhalter believes Pulisic is ‘perfect’ for Chelsea, he says the forward has the potential to go on to play for Spanish giants Barcelona or Real Madrid or German champions Bayern Munich.
He told Bild: ‘Pulisic is a leader at Chelsea at 21. It doesn’t happen that often that a player from the Bundesliga goes to a top club in England and immediately convinces there.
‘Christian quickly got used to the speed and the more physical style of playing in England. He is a role model for all other US players in the Bundesliga whose goal is the Premier League.
‘Christian is perfect for Chelsea. All dangerous offensive actions run through him, he shines as a goalscorer and as a preparer.
‘If Christian maintains this level, he can also play for the biggest clubs in the world like Bayern, Barcelona or Real Madrid without any problems.’
Pulisic, meanwhile, has been backed to form an ‘extraordinary partnership’ with new Chelsea signing Ben Chilwell.
Lampard signed England international Chilwell from Leicester City last month, following deals for Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.
Former Blues star Pat Nevin said last week: ‘That could be one extraordinary partnership if they click.
‘We have others who can play out there of course and a Callum Hudson-Odoi, Hakim Ziyech or Mason Mount linking up with Chilwell would be also be chilling concept for most Premier League defences.’
Chelsea begin their 2020-21 Premier League campaign on September 14 with a trip to Brighton.
