Kepa started Chelsea’s 3-3 draw with Southampton, their last Premier League match, before losing his place to summer signing Edouard Mendy for the side’s stalemate with Sevilla in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Club legend Petr Cech has been added to Chelsea’s Premier League squad as an emergency option between the sticks this season but the 38-year-old shot-stopper will not be included at Old Trafford this weekend.
The Blues will also be without Billy Gilmour, who is still recovering from a knee problem and not expected to return until late November.
Asked about Chelsea’s injury concerns at his pre-match press conference, Lampard said: ‘Thiago Silva and Pulisic are both fine, we have a pretty clean bill of health other than Kepa who has a shoulder issue and won’t travel to Manchester.
‘The only other player out is Billy Gilmour.
‘Cech is not coming [as a player], no.’
Lampard added: ‘Man United are a very good team and we have played them enough last season to know that.’
Mendy insisted earlier this week that he and Kepa have a ‘good relationship’ despite being direct rivals for the number one spot at Stamford Bridge.
‘I have a very good relationship with Kepa, the group of goalkeepers we have, we’re all very open and all of us understand the team is the most important thing here and doing what is right for the group,’ the Senegal shot-stopper said.
‘Our relationships are all very good, we work well together and we’re pushing each other every day to improve ourselves and improve each other.
‘We know as goalkeepers we have to stay unified and united and that is what is happening at the moment.’
He continued: ‘To be at a club where such great goalkeepers have played is very important to me.
‘I am aware of the expectations surrounding the goalkeeper position at Chelsea.
‘I am not going to put any pressure or compare myself to them because they are both legends here. They have played at a very, very high level for many years.
‘I have only just arrived here so my aim is to carry on progressing and make sure that I am there for the team and settle.
‘So that’s my objective right now and not to think about what Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini achieve here. They are legends and different to me.’
