Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca was thrilled after his team ended their three-game losing streak with a resounding 4-0 victory over Southampton.
The win was a much-needed boost for the Blues, who had slipped outside the top four after a run of five defeats and three draws in their last 10 Premier League matches.
Maresca praised his players for their performance but emphasized the importance of the result.
“We all needed that,” he said, per the BBC.
“We were in a bad run in terms of results. The performance was always there, maybe except against Brighton. The club needed that. We are happy.”
Maresca acknowledged that his team had been going through a tough patch, but expressed pride in how they had responded.
“In these last month and a half, I have pushed the players even more to believe in the process,” he said. “Since we started, we have almost been in the top four. But now it’s normal to go through some bad moments.
“It’s about how we react and how we continue to believe in what we do. The players are fantastic and work hard every day.”
