The German was a notable omission from Cheslea’s 18-man squad to face the Ligue 1 side at Stamford Bridge and his absence left supporters fearing he had sustained an injury.
However, Lampard confirmed to the media before the game that the former Bayer Leverkusen attacker has tested positive for coronavirus and is currently self-isolating.
Speaking to the media, Lampard confirmed that the German recorded a positive test and he’s already begun his obligatory fortnight of self-isolation.
Though the guidelines require a fortnight in quarantine, Havertz will not be able to feature again until he tests negative.
In his absence, Lampard named Hakim Ziyech, Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner in attack.
