Maurizio Sarri left Chelsea to take over as Juventus manager in the summer of 2019 and was keen to take Jorginho back to Serie A with him, after they had also worked together there with Napoli.
Sarri has now been ousted from the Juventus dugout, despite winning the Serie A title, and replaced with club legend Andrea Pirlo.
However, the Italian boss was very keen to reunite with Jorginho again and the player’s agent believes that if Sarri had not been sacked, the midfielder would have been tempted by the move.
Chelsea even had the chance to take Pjanic in a swap deal for him, but were not fussed and the Bosnian has since moved to Barcelona.
‘Juventus had offered a swap deal including Miralem Pjanic, but the English side didn’t take it into consideration,’ Joao Santos told Tuttomercatoweb.
‘[Juve sporting director Fabio] Paratici never called me. Would he have moved to Juventus with Sarri? I think so.’
Santos says his client is happy in west London, but if he drops out of the starting XI, he will be moving on quickly.
‘He has a three-year deal with Chelsea. The market is long, it will last until October 5,’ he said. ‘If Chelsea were to think that he is no longer part of the project, I would find an alternative solution.
‘Last year he played 40 games for Chelsea and is an important member of the national team.
‘So far we haven’t received any official offers. He is followed by many clubs and there aren’t many players with his characteristics in that role.’
