Chelsea have let striker Charlie Brown leave on a permanent deal, with the 21-year-old joining League One side MK Dons.

The young striker never managed to break into the first team at Stamford Bridge, failing to make an appearance in any competition since joining from Ispwich Town in 2016.

He made his first professional appearances on loan in Belgium with Union SG, but found himself out of the side at the start of the current season and returned to Chelsea.

Brown now heads to MK Dons, who are 16th in League One, where he will compete with the likes of Cameron Jerome and Joe Mason up front.

A club statement read: ‘Chelsea Football Club thanks Charlie for his service and wishes him all the best in his future career.’

‘I’m over the moon to be here,’ Brown told mkdons.com. ‘This is an opportunity I’ve been waiting for and I can’t wait to get on the pitch and show the fans what I can do.

‘The Gaffer has got a really strong plan for the team and I’m really excited to be a part of that and have the opportunity to help the Club get to where it wants to be.

‘I’ve seen the way the team plays, with a lot of possession and creating a lot of chances for the strikers. It’s going to be up to me to finish those chances off and I’ll be looking to do that as often as I can!’
