The Confederation of African Football (CAF) conducted the final draw for the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 on Wednesday at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya.
The draw ceremony, conducted by former African football stars McDonald Mariga, Mrisho Ngasa, and Hassan Wasswa, alongside CAF’s Director of Competitions, Samson Adamu, determined the group stage matchups.
Group A features co-host Kenya, two-time winners Morocco, two-time champions DR Congo, Angola, and Zambia.
Group B comprises Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic.
Group C includes co-host Uganda, Niger, and Guinea, with two open slots to be filled by yet-to-qualify teams.
Defending champions, Senegal have been drawn in group D alongside Congo, Sudan and Nigeria.
The CHAN tournament, scheduled for August 2025, is a biennial competition that features players active in their respective national leagues, highlighting local talent across Africa.
The 2024 edition will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, marking the first time the tournament is held across multiple countries.
