Manchester United new boy Edinson Cavani will be hoping to make his debut for the club against former employers Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday after taking part in his first training session with the Red Devils.
The Uruguayan joined the club on deadline day as a free agent following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season.
Covid-19 protocols meant Cavani was forced into a two-week isolation period following his transfer, meaning he was unable to make his debut in Saturday’s win against Newcastle.
However, Cavani was able to participate in training on Sunday after a fortnight in quarantine and he was welcomed to the club by midfielder Nemanja Matic.
‘Welcome to the Manchester United family,’ wrote Matic, before tagging Cavani in the post.
The 33-year-old hasn’t played a single minute of football since March and he’s unlikely to start in Paris given his long lay-off.
However, he’s clearly kept himself in good shape and he’s released a number of workout videos on his social media channels showcasing as much.
United have Anthony Martial available for the game in the French capital, as he’s one match into a three-game Premier League suspension.
However, Cavani was reportedly desperate to join United after the Champions League draw as it meant he could face his former side.
Despite being PSG’s record scorer, relations between Cavani and the club soured by the end of his time in Paris.
Cavani was unhappy with a lack of playing time under Thomas Tuchel and he refused to feature in the Champions League knockout stages after a dispute over extending his contract.
