Edo Queens women’s football club will receive at least $150,000 for participating in this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League.
The Confederation of African Football via its media outlet announced that teams will receive a minimum of $150,000 with the potential of it rising as they progress in the competition.
The football governing body also announced a 52% increase in the prize money of this year’s competition.
The winner will receive $600,000, the runner up get $400,000, the third-placed team go home with $350,000.
In addition, the fourth-placed team will get $300,000 while the teams that finish in 3rd and 4th in their groups get $200,000 and $150,000 respectively.
Edo Queens are participating in the competition for the first time as champions of the Nigeria Women’s Premier League.
The Nigerian champions will take on CBE, defending champions Mamelodi Sundows and Masar in Group B.
The competition will hold between 9th and 23rd, November, 2024 in Morocco across two venues in Casablanca and El Jadida.
