On Monday, the Nigeria Football Federation will introduce Mr. Éric Sékou Chelle, the new head coach of the Super Eagles, to the public in Abuja, the Federal Capital.
The event is set for the MKO Abiola National Stadium’s Media Conference Room.
The NFF Executive Committee confirmed Chelle’s nomination after the football governing body’s Technical and Development Committee recommended it.
According to NFF, the 47-year-old Franco-Malian represents the new spirit, new ideas, and upbeat mindset that the Federation wants the Super Eagles to approach their final six games in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
A statement by the President said, “We appreciate the fact that Nigerians are very passionate about the game of football, and that is the reason for the different tones of reactions following the appointment of Coach Chelle.
“However, the NFF hereby appeals to Nigerians to come together and support him, as we believe he has the qualities to achieve success with the Super Eagles.
“The NFF will give him all the support that he needs to succeed in the job.”
The NFF will also reveal the names of Coach Chelle’s assistants at Monday’s unveiling.
The team will lead the Super Eagles B in the African Nations Championship in East Africa next month before concentrating entirely on the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, which starts in March with games against Rwanda (away) and Zimbabwe (home).
Chelle quit his position at top Algerian team MC Oran to join the Super Eagles.
