Former Nigeria international Victor Ikpeba shared his thoughts on the appointment of Eric Chelle as new coach of the Super Eagles.
Chelle’s appointment has generated mixed reactions among pundits and fans.
Ikpeba, who is a member of the technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said he is not surprised by the reaction the appointment has caused.
“The appointment of a coach for the Super Eagles will always generate a lot of interest,” the former Monaco forward told Brila FM.“
“This is one of the biggest countries in Africa and that’s the passion that comes around the national team.
“Even if we had appointed Pep Guardiola (Manchester City coach), there would be complaints.
“If there are no arguments, there won’t be success.”
Chelle, 47, is expected in Nigeria this weekend to sign a two-year contract and begin his task of qualifying the nation for the 2026 World Cup.
