New Barca boss Ronald Koeman wants to usher in a new era at Camp Nou and the Catalan club are ready to offload Suarez for free to get his enormous salary off their wage bill.
Reports in both Italy and Spain claim the Uruguayan striker has already agreed personal terms with Juventus and the move to Turin is imminent.
Barca have set their sights of Memphis Depay as Suarez’s replacement, while it is even claimed the 33-year-old reached out to old rival Giorgio Chiellini ahead of his move to Juve.
But reports of Suarez’s exit may be a little premature, with the forward taking to social media to hit back at the speculation surrounding his future.
Suarez uploaded an image of him training with the rest of the Barcelona squad during Wednesday’s session, along with the caption: ‘When FAKE NEWS is coming out… Me: 👌 😃’
The former Liverpool and Ajax star looks happy and relaxed in the picture and, notably, is surrounding by teammates despite reports he had been asked to train alone ahead of his move.
Nevertheless, Juve are believed to be keen on bringing Suarez to Italy and are willing to offer him a two-year, £9m-a-year contract – though first they need to terminate Gonzalo Higuain’s contract.
Suarez’s preference, though, would be to stay at Barcelona and he is even prepared to play a bit-part role under Koeman.
Asked if he would be prepared to only be a substitute next season, Suarez told El Pais last month: ‘I would accept it here as I have always accepted it in my career.
‘Competition is always good and if the coach considers that I should start from the bench, I have no problem helping with the role they give me. I think I can still contribute a lot to this club.’
