Fiorentina football club have confirmed that its midfielder Edoardo Bove is now “awake and alerted” after Sunday’s unfortunate incident.
Edoardo Bove, 22 fell and slumped on the pitch in a league match against Inter Milan on Sunday at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
The 22-year-old slumped to the ground and lost consciousness immediately abiut 16 minutes into the match.
The former Roma midfielder received medical assiatance on the pitch while the match was suspended and afterwards abandoned.
Bove was taken to the Careggi University Hospital where he further received medical treatment while still unconscious.
However, Fiorentina have now confirmed that the player is now awake and has spoken to his family and teammates at the club via a statement.
“ACF Fiorentina has announced that Edoardo Bove, following an uneventful night, was awakened and extubated this morning. He is currently awake, alert and oriented.”
“He has spoken with his family, club management, the coach and his team-mates, who all rushed to go and see him as soon as they heard the good news. Further tests will be carried out in the coming days to establish what led to the critical situation that took place yesterday.”
The club also extended appreciation to the hospital and the entire football community for their support since yesterday.
“The doctors at Careggi University Hospital who are treating the player have confirmed that diagnostic tests are ongoing.”
