Kelechi Iheanacho’s move to Sevilla from Leicester City was supposed to be a fresh start, but the Nigerian striker has failed to make an impact in Spain. As a result, Sevilla are reportedly considering offloading him in the January transfer window.
After seven years at Leicester, Iheanacho joined Sevilla alongside compatriot Chidera Ejuke, but while Ejuke showed promise before getting injured, ‘Senior Man’ has failed to offer much.
He has made seven La Liga appearances without scoring or assisting a goal, and his only notable contribution was a brace in a Copa del Rey match against lower-tier side Las Rozas.
The striker’s struggles have also been evident on the international stage, where he was withdrawn at halftime as Nigeria drew with Benin and lost to Rwanda during the last international break.
However, moving Iheanacho won’t be straightforward due to his hefty wages and lack of recent form. A loan deal to a Premier League or Championship side might be the most feasible option.
One thing is clear, this is a transfer that has not worked out for both parties.
