Frank Lampard said Hakim Ziyech will need further assessment after twisting his knee against Brighton.
Chelsea’s summer signing was making his first appearance in a friendly against Brighton and impressed by setting up his side’s first goal.
But Ziyech was forced off in the second half after appearing to hurt his knee.
Lampard gave an update about Ziyech’s injury after the game, with the club website describing it as a ‘little twist to the knee that will be looked at’.
Olivier Giroud also came off injured after a being left with bloodied from a clash of heads with Brighton’s Lewis Dunk.
Chelsea are just over two weeks away from their first Premier League game of the new season and are already dealing with an outbreak of Covid-19 among the first-team squad.
Several players are in isolation and Lampard is facing a selection headache ahead of the first league match against Brighton on 14 September.
Lampard has had a busy summer in the transfer window signing Timo Werner, Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell as well as Ziyech.
Malang Sarr was also signed on a free transfer, but the 21-year-old will spend the next season out on loan.
