Frank Lampard was delighted for Hakim Ziyech after the winger scored on his full debut for the club in a 4-0 win against Krasnodar.
The Moroccan has had a frustrating injury-hit start to life at Stamford Bridge and he’s waited patiently to make his first start for the club, after five appearances from the bench.
Chelsea held a slender 1-0 lead at half-time after Callum Hudson-Odoi’s tame shot gave the Blues an opener but the game opened up with 15 minutes left when Timo Werner converted from the penalty spot.
After a mixed performance, Ziyech found more space for himself in attack and he finished off a fine counter-attack to score his first goal for the club.
‘I though his performance was very very good when you consider he hasn’t started a match since March when the Dutch league finished,’ said Lampard.
‘So I have been very excited to get him on the pitch so it has been frustration for me and for him and us that his injury hasn’t allowed him to start.
‘But what I have seen in training so far and what I knew we were signing as a player was a player with immense quality and personality to receive the ball, assists and find goals.
‘We saw a lot of glimpses of that today. We brought him in to do a job and maybe people have forgotten a bit because we signed him in January and he missed the start of the season. Tonight, he certainly showed he is here.’

Christian Pulisic started the night on the bench but he was on hand to apply a fourth goal in the dying stages to round off a pleasing night for Lampard.
