Chelsea are reportedly ready to replace error-prone goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, with AS Roma’s Mile Svilar emerging as a top target.
Sanchez’s mistakes have been a major concern for Chelsea this season, with the goalkeeper committing a league-high five errors leading to goals. In January, Sanchez was dropped from the starting lineup for four consecutive Premier League games after being at fault for a goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Despite Sanchez’s return to the starting XI, Chelsea are already exploring alternatives. Svilar’s current contract with Roma expires in 2027, and the Italian club will likely fight to keep him.
Roma boss Claudio Ranieri has praised Svilar’s performances this season, saying:
“Mile is having a fantastic season. When a goalkeeper is not very busy and is suddenly called into action, showing readiness at all times like Mile does, then it means that he is truly a great goalkeeper.”
Signing a reliable goalkeeper is one of Chelsea’s top priorities for next season, along with acquiring a new striker and left winger.
With Bayern Munich also in the running for Svilar’s signature, Chelsea will face stiff competition to secure their top target.
