Manchester United forward, Alejandro Garnacho has been announced as the winner of the 2024 Puskas Award for his sensational overhead kick against Everton last season.
The Puskas Award is given annually to the goal considered the most aesthetically pleasing and impressive over the previous season.
The announcement was made at FIFA’s The Best Gala in Qatar on December 17, with the Argentina international coming out on top ahead of other nominees including West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus and Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco.
The Argentine scored the goal in United’s win against Everton in November 2023, sending a stunning bicycle kick effort beyond Jordan Pickford and into the top corner of the net following Diogo Dalot’s deep cross in the third minute of the match, which United went on to win 3-0.
Garnacho becomes only the second United player ever to win the award since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.
