Gary Neville says Paul Pogba still has the ability to become one of the best players in world football but admits he has one ‘issue’ with the Manchester United midfielder.

Pogba, 27, has won four Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias, the Europa League, EFL Cup and World Cup during his career so far.

Despite his success, there is a feeling that Manchester United fans are yet to see the best of Pogba, who left Old Trafford to join Juventus in 2012, only to return to the club four years later.

Neville believes Pogba has the potential to be one of the best players in the Premier League but admits he has one ‘issue’ with the Frenchman.

He told the Webby and O’Neill YouTube channel: ‘For me Paul Pogba has the capability of being the best player at the club and one of the best players in the Premier League and the world.

‘My only issue ever with Pogba – I’ve never really been overly critical of his performances – is the noise around him wanting to leave the club and his agent pushing him elsewhere.

‘It’s that lack of commitment which for me does distract. It happened when I was at the club as well so it’s not unique.

‘But it does need to be dealt with because when your most famous player looks like he wants to leave, it unsettles everybody.

‘Now, with coronavirus, with [Bruno] Fernandes signing, with the players coming through… Manchester United’s team, with the right two or three additions, could be a brilliant team in two or three years.

‘There is an emergence of a really good group of players who could build a fantastic team.’

At times over the past two years Pogba has appeared to be on the verge of another move away from Manchester United.

But the coronavirus pandemic has made big-money transfers more unlikely and he may in fact feel rejuvenated at Old Trafford, having struck up an impressive partnership with new signing Fernandes towards the end of last season.

The Red Devils, who finished third in the Premier League last season, begin their 2020-21 campaign on September 17 against Burnley.
