The Blues invested over £200million in their squad in the last transfer window, bringing in the likes of Werner, Mendy, Ziyech, Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell.
Their big summer of spending has paid dividends so far, with Frank Lampard’s side just two points shy of Premier League leaders Tottenham after 11 matches.
Goalkeeper Mendy has impressed between the sticks, keeping nine clean sheets in his first 13 games for the club.
Meanwhile, Ziyech’s start to life at Stamford Bridge has been hampered by fitness issues. After eventually recovering from a knee injury picked up in pre-season, the tricky winger dazzled in his first few Chelsea appearances.
However, the Morocco international suffered up a hamstring problem in last weekend’s 3-1 win over Leeds and will miss his side’s Champions League clash against Krasnodar on Tuesday.
£47.5m recruit Werner has managed to find the back of the net eight times in all competitions this season but has been guilty of squandering big chances in recent weeks.
Despite being particularly wasteful against Leeds, including a shocking miss from a yard out, former Tottenham manager Hoddle backed the Germany international to prove himself to be Chelsea’s most important signing of last summer.
‘Hakim Ziyech is a very good player. There will be games where he will be outstanding and I think spells maybe where we will not see him.
‘Kai Havertz has got to show more. There is more to come from him, do not get me wrong, he is a very good player.
‘But I would go for Werner, I think we will look back and think he was a very good buy.’
