Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is backing Liverpool to retain their Premier League title this season, although he has praise for three other sides who will be bidding for glory.
The Reds won the title by 18 points last season, dominating the season and finishing with 99 points to claim their first Premier League title.
They may not have made any major signings over the summer so far, but Redknapp still believes they ‘look like the winning team’ after winning the Champions League and Premier League over the last two seasons.
However, he doesn’t necessarily think it will be easy, noting that Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City will all provide stern challenges for the champions over the coming campaign.
‘Chelsea have performed well, Man United are getting stronger, Man City are going to try and win it back this year but I’m still going to go with Liverpool,’ Redknapp said on Sunday Brunch.
‘I think Liverpool look like the winning team to me.’
Despite how comfortably Jurgen Klopp’s side won the league title last season, the bookmakers do not agree with Redknapp’s assessment.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City team are the odds-on favourites to lift the trophy with Betfair, ahead of Liverpool, followed by Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal.
‘I’m going to go Man City, Man United, Liverpool and Chelsea, but that’s with a little bit of hope rather than science!’ Neville told Stadium Astro.
