Korea DPR emerged champions at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2024 after defeating Spain 4-3 in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in Sunday’s final at the Felix Sanchez Stadium in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The biennial international women’s youth competition which held from October 16 to November 3, 2024 was contested by 16 teams across the world.
The tournament gave future stars an opportunity to showcase their talents on the global stage. Key individual awards were presented, reflecting outstanding performances throughout the tournament.
Jon Il-chong of Korea DPR won the Golden Ball as she emerged the best player of the tournament. Pau Comendador and Celia Segura, both of Spain, claimed the Silver Ball and Bronze Ball respectively.
Comendador also won the Golden Boot for being the tournament’s top scorer with five goals. USA’s Kennedy Fuller and Segura claimed the Silver Boot and Bronze Boot respectively.
Evan O’Steen of USA won the Golden Glove award as the best goalkeeper as she kept four clean sheets in five games, conceding only one goal. Nigeria won the FIFA Fair Play trophy for their sportsmanship.
