Nigerian winger Nathan Tella is having a difficult season with Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, as he struggles for game time.
After joining from Southampton last summer, Tella has failed to become a regular under Xabi Alonso.
“I’m frustrated, to be honest,” Tella admitted in an interview with German newspaper BILD.
Despite featuring in 24 league games last season, mostly as a substitute, and making three appearances this term, Tella feels sidelined.
However, the Nigerian remains hopeful after a conversation with his coach.
“I spoke to the coach,” Tella revealed. “He assured me that I will get opportunities and that I have to be patient.”
Tella is determined to seize his chances.
“When I get a chance, I have to show myself. I think I’ve done well, and I also think I’m training well.”
Now, it’s up to the coach to give him the nod.
“Now it is up to the coach to have the confidence to use me. He makes the decisions – and they work well.”
