Nottingham Forest and Super Eagles star Ola Aina has opened up about his tough night in the AFCON 2023 final against Ivory Coast.
The 28-year-old right-back struggled to contain Ivory Coast’s Simon Adingra, who left him scrambling to keep up.
In an upcoming episode of Culture Cams, Aina recalled the painful experience.
“I got cooked by everyone, bro. Even my dad was like, ‘Olaoluwa… what happened? What happened there?’ I was like, ‘Dad… not now…'”

Aina’s mum also had some words for him. “She sent me a voice note like, ‘Ola, why did you let that little boy go past you like that?'”
The former Chelsea man has bounced back from that setback to emerge as one of the league’s finest full-backs, attracting interest from the likes of Liverpool, and Manchester City.
The Super Eagles are gearing up for crucial World Cup qualifiers, with Aina named in Eric Chelle’s squad for the upcoming clashes.
Nigeria will take on Rwanda in Kigali on March 21 before returning to host Zimbabwe in Uyo on March 25.
