Aouar was a top target for Arsenal this summer but they didn’t match Lyon’s £55million valuation of the creative midfielder and he stayed in Ligue 1.
Reports have claimed they will return for the France international, who already has four goals and an assist to his name this season, in the January transfer window – a move Wright is fully supportive of.
Wright has been impressed by the signing of Partey but he still thinks Arsenal are crying out for more creativity in the midfield.
And he named Aouar as the man who could fill that void.
Wright told Premier League Productions after their 1-0 win over Manchester United: ‘It is [important] because it’s something that’s continually labelled towards Arsenal, that they can’t beat the big-six teams.
‘I think that was something that was a little while back now, not since [Arteta’s] been there.
‘I think the mentality has changed, the culture in what he’s doing has changed, the intensity and the way he wants to play.
‘It’s all changed, it’s a new Arsenal in what they’re trying to do going forward.
‘So it’s all looking good and winning games like this will only stand you in good stead and give confidence to the team.’
