Kano Pillars striker Mohammed Zulkifilu has set his sight on sealing qualification for next year’s Championship of African Nations with Nigeria.
Ahead of the two-legged qualifier against the Black Stars of Ghana next month, Zulkifilu believes that the match is a revenge misision for him.
Zulkifilu was part of the CHAN Eagles that lost to Ghana in 2022 in the final round of qualification of the 2023 edition of the tournament.
The CHAN Eagles lost 5-4 on penalties to Ghana after a 2-2 agreggate scoreline in the 2022 qualifiers
While speaking in the camp of the team in Abuja, Zulkifilu believes that things will be different this time.
“We came close to qualifying for the CHAN last time, and that failure still lingers in my mind,” the forward told brila.net.
“This time around, it is like a personal mission for me and those of us who still made this team. We can’t afford to fail again, qualifying for the CHAN is non-negotiable.
“I am truly delighted to make the squad again, and this time things will be different,” the striker told Brila.net
Ghana will host the first leg of the qualifier on December 20, while Nigeria will host the return fixture seven days later at a venue yet to be named.
