Lampard was one of Mourinho’s key players during their time together at Stamford Bridge and the pair helped the club win two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and two League Cup trophies.
Lampard is now one of Mourinho’s managerial rivals in the Premier League and the former England midfielder guided Chelsea to two victories over Spurs last season.
But before Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Spurs in December, Mourinho privately praised his former player during a conversation with Christian Eriksen, which was shown in episode three of ‘All or Nothing’ on Amazon Prime.
During a scene where Mourinho was watching Lampard’s press conference with Spurs’ players, Eriksen asked the Tottenham manager: ‘Good guy?’
Mourinho replied: ‘Frank? Yeah.
Mourinho then added: ‘Professional as a player. The best I’ve ever seen.’
Mourinho then said ‘it’s kind of’ and then made a gesture towards Eriksen which emphaised how focused Lampard was.
Speaking before the 2-0 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Mourinho told his players: ‘We win tomorrow, Chelsea lose in Manchester City, they s*** themselves.
‘Nine points, they come here in December, they s*** themselves. We can make top four.’
Chelsea went on to finish the season in fourth place, while Mourinho guided Spurs to sixth, seven points behind Lampard’s side.
