Jurgen Klopp has revealed Diogo Jota is a doubt for Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Fulham after a knock against Midtjylland but there’s a chance Alisson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could return at Craven Cottage this weekend.
The English champions have been decimated by injuries to a host of their key players at the start of their campaign and Klopp has been vocal with frustrations over the Premier League’s fixture scheduling in recent weeks.
The German will have been desperate for all 16 of his players involved in midweek to come through the clash with Midtjylland unscathed.
But summer arrivals Jota and Konstantinos Tsimikas both came off in the second half of Wednesday’s 1-1 draw in Denmark and may be absent at Fulham on Sunday afternoon.
Asked whether he had any fitness updates at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Klopp replied: ‘We had a game two days ago and after the game we obviously had some niggles.
But it could be more, we have to see. The diagnosis is not finally done.
‘Kostas we have to see and Diogo we have to see, he got a knock as well. That’s it from the game I think.’
Klopp delivered some positive news on Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has been out since pre-season with a knee injury.
‘Apart from that, Oxlade is in normal training, doing parts of training for a week or so,’ the Liverpool head coach went on.
‘He’s now in full training and we will see. The situation probably demands to involve him as soon as possible but I don’t know if the weekend is that moment already.
‘Nobody else is coming back I’m afraid.’
‘Ali will train,’ he added.
‘If he trains and it’s all fine then he can play.’
Top-of-the-table Liverpool will be hoping for a strong performance at Craven Cottage ahead of their much-anticipated clash with joint leaders Tottenham next Wednesday.
