Arsenal completed a £45million deal for the 27-year-old on deadline day after the Gunners activated a release clause in the Ghanian’s contract.
Partey has been a target for the club for the last three years and he has more than quadrupled his wages by moving to north London, where he’ll earn £250,000-a-week.
Trippier played alongside Partey for a season at Atletico Madrid and despite his ties with rivals Spurs, the England defender says the midfielder will light up the Premier League.
‘He’s unbelievable, his physicality, how he breaks up play,’ said Trippier.
‘Technically he’s got everything. He ranks as one of the best midfielders I’ve played with.
‘He speaks perfect English. I don’t think he’d have a problem with the Premier League.’
Though no negotiations were needed between the two clubs given Arsenal needed only to activate Partey’s release clause, Atletico felt it courteous that the Gunners notified them of their intentions.
However, Arsenal triggered the clause just 32 minutes before the transfer window closed.
