Frank Lampard’s side are aiming to turn themselves into title contenders next season and have made four huge signings of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell.
Pep Guardiola has also moved to address his side’s issues with the addition of Nathan Ake and Ferran Torres, but Klopp played down the fact Liverpool’s rivals have been splashing the cash while the Reds have had a subdued transfer window.
‘It’s not about how many players anyone will sign,’ said Klopp. ‘In the end they all have to play with eleven.
‘Motivation will not be our problem. I know this team will not stop trying and that’s all I need.
‘I will not stop trying, but I never expect things to just happen for me.
‘I expect that I give absolutely everything and the boys do that as well.
‘That brings us in a position where we can be really competitive and that is the first step towards going for titles.
‘It’s about creating a unit which is absolutely difficult to beat and being a proper team that is ready to suffer for each other.
‘That is the most important thing, not who you can buy in a very strange moment of all our lives.’
Liverpool’s new campaign kicks off on Saturday with their Community Shield clash with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
The Reds will be looking for revenge against Arsenal having suffered a shock defeat to the Gunners at the tail-end of last season.
